Comprehensive and collision coverage:  Covers the vehicle if it is damaged or stolen -- Collision covers the vehicle if it is damaged in a crash.  Comprehensive covers the vehicle for theft and for damage caused by anything other than collision. (eg:  fire, lightning, hurricane, vandalism)

• _{Prior insurance discount:  Most insurance companies will offer you a lower price if you can prove that are currently insured and that you have been continuously insured for the past 6 months.  The higher your current limits of bodily injury liability, the better your discount will be.   Although you usually qualify for a better discount if there is no lapse in coverage, you may still qualify for a discount if the lapse has been less than 30 days.}  
• _{Homeowner discount:   Most insurance companies will offer you a lower price if you own your residence.  This could be a single family home, mobile-home, or condominium.}  
• _{Vehicle discounts: If  your vehicle(s) is (are) equipped with air-bags, anti-lock brakes, or alarms / anti-theft devices, please make the appropriate boxes are checked above in the "VEHICLES" section of this form.}

Liability coverage:  This covers you if you injure someone or damage someone else's property with your vehicle.  Liability coverage is expressed in 3 amounts:

Bodily injury liability per person / Bodily injury liability per accident / Property damage liability per accident.  As an example, a policy with liability limits of 10,000 / 20,000 / 10,000 will cover you for:

• $10,000 for injury to any one person, up to a total of
• $20,000 per accident (if more than one person in the other vehicle is injured), and
• $10,000 per accident to pay for damage to someone else's vehicle(s)

** Some policies do not include any bodily injury liability, as the state of Florida does not require it.  We suggest that you carry at least limits of 10,000 / 20,000 because having this coverage will protect you from having your drivers license suspended if you are at fault in an accident with injuries

** If one or more of your vehicles is (are) leased, you must have liability limits of $100,000 / $300,000 / $50,0

Uninsured / underinsured motorist coverage:  This coverage offers extra protection for you and people in your vehicle if you are injured by someone else and they do not have enough insurance to cover your injuries.  You may purchase uninsured / underinsured motorist coverage at limits equal to your bodily injury liability limits.  You may also choose to purchase this coverage at limits lower than your bodily injury limits, or you may choose to reject the coverage - It is optional.

Personal injury protection (P.I.P.):   This coverage will pay for the first $10,000 of your medical expenses if you are injured in an auto accident, regardless of who was at fault.  It will also pay $10,000 for medical expenses incurred by anyone riding as a passenger in your vehicle.  P.I.P. is mandatory coverage in Florida, but if you are looking for ways to lower your insurance premiums, you may choose to have a deductible apply.  You may elect a deductible in the amount of $1,000, $500,  $250, or you may choose to have no deductible.
